Atlanta Strip Clubs: What the Freak Was Freaknik?

It picked up a bit when part of the crew visited a frat house of mostly white dudes en route to the Freaknik extravaganza. When the black guys rolled in, the frat boys immediately got them beers, clearly excited, saying “that’s bada** we love rap, bro…insane, in your head, let’s get weird.” The single freakiest scene in the show was when one rapper called the other the “n-word” to which a frat guy said “oh very cool, the n-word.” I don’t exactly know why T-Pain thought it necessary to be this over-the-top, but he did accurately portray the tension people feel, especially in the South, over certain racial epithets. It’s not necessarily meant as some great social commentary, but it’s sad that T-Pain, Autotune King, made me think about racism in our society. I mean, this is the guy who sings “I’m On a Boat”, “Chopped N Screwed” and “I’m in Love with a Stripper.” When Obama resigned from his Presidency in the show, my roommate pointed out “what exactly is he trying to say here?” I still don’t know.
