Atlanta Strip Clubs: Strip Club Denied Change to Liquor License

The liquor license at Kamal’s P21, an adult entertainment club on the border of Piedmont Heights and Lindridge Martin Manor, needs to be renewed due to a change of ownership application filed by Kamal Balogun, an owner of the club.
Residents in surrounding neighborhoods are concerned about violence around the club and voted unanimously Monday night to deny the application to change the liquor license over to Balogun.
A city ordinance requires that the business must present itself in front of the neighborhood planning unit before a recommendation may be made by the city’s License Review Board. The ultimate decision will lie with the mayor’s office.
Last month, voting on the application was deferred by the neighborhood planning unit because Balogun failed to appear before the group due to a family emergency. Several business owners and residents said the strip club hurts the neighborhood, but a local police officer said the criminal activity outside of the club has little to do with the ownership.
