Rap music producer Shawty Redd has turned himself into authorities in Henry County, Georgia after a shooting incident at his Hampton home left another man dead. Redd, whose real name is Demetrius Lee Stewart, is being held on murder charges.
The victim is 35-year-old Damon A. Martin of Detroit, police officials said.
Investigators said Martin was at Stewart’s home, about 30 miles southeast of Atlanta, on New Year’s Day when an argument between the two ensued. When Martin physically threatened Stewart, the music producer got his gun and shot him, witnesses said.
Stewart, 28, has produced numerous hits for rap artists Young Jeezy, Gucci Mane, 8 Ball & MJG, Snoop Dogg’s hit “Sexual Eruption/ Sensual Seduction.” as well as songs of his own described as “strip club anthems.”
