Lawrenceville lounge to be discussed at meeting

Some Lawrenceville activists fear that a 2,400-square-foot lounge proposed for Butler Street will upset the business district’s delicate equilibrium and bring South Side-style problems to the neighborhood.
The concerns will be aired at a community meeting on the proposal at 6 p.m. today at St. Mary’s Lyceum, 329 45th St.
Ed Bartosiewicz, a real-estate broker working on the project, said the would-be owners already have had to refute unfounded rumors that the lounge would be a strip club.
“This would be an upscale evening gathering place,” he said.
The lounge is planned for 4305 Butler St., a ground-floor space vacant for about six months and previously the site of the Outlet Connection retail shop. The building is owned by Drs. Philip Cichon and George Sestric, who have their practice on the second floor and would lease the space for the lounge.
