ATLANTA — The U.S Attorney’s Office announced they were concerned about racial bias and drug impairment affecting rulings made by former judge Jack Camp.
Camp is now a former senior federal judge. In November, he pleaded guilty to using drugs with a stripper from May through September.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office of Northern Georgia did not conduct the investigation into Camp but asked for the results so they could conduct their own examination of criminal cases that went before Camp.
U.S. Attorney Sally Yates said two witnesses told them Camp talked to them about cases and how he sentenced African-American defendants harsher than white defendants. Yates said they found two cases in question, which supported the allegations.
