ATLANTA (AP) – Georgia defense attorneys are filing the first round of court challenges to recent cases handled by a federal judge charged with buying and using drugs with a stripper working as an undercover informant.

Camp pleaded guilty Nov. 19 to a felony charge of aiding and abetting a felon’s possession of cocaine when he bought drugs for the stripper, who was secretly cooperating with authorities. Camp also pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors: possession of illegal drugs and illegally giving the stripper his government-issued laptop.
Two weeks later after the court appearance, Yates announced that a female witness who had a relationship with the judge—she would not say if the woman was the stripper—suggested the judge had a racial bias. She told prosecutors that Camp said he had a difficult time sentencing black men because they reminded him of someone he didn’t like.
