Atlanta Strip Clubs: Charges dropped in the death of ‘Real Housewives’ star ex-fiancé

Following the initial announcement from the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office that Mr. Jewell’s death resulted from a sickle cell crisis, the family of the deceased expressed grave concern regarding the accuracy of the autopsy findings.For that reason, our office enlisted the service of two additional medical experts who specialize in the area of sickle cell diagnosis and treatment.
The new medical evidence supports the DA’s decision to drop charges against Richardson. Sickle cell in a blood disorder that affects about 1 in 5,000 Americans, mostly people of African descent. Because of some of the various complications, people afflicted with the disease have a shorter life expectancy.
Ashley “A.J.” Jewell died on October 2, 2009 after an altercation in the parking lot of an Atlanta strip club called the Body Tap where Fredrick Richardson was the manager. Richardson was arrested and charged with voluntary manslaughter. In an interview with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Richardson’s lawyer Dennis Scheib says Jewell followed his client to the parking lot drew a gun and hit him twice. He says that Richardson hit Jewell back only once.
