ATLANTA
— Fulton County is dropping voluntary manslaughter charges against a strip club manager charged in the death of a “Real Housewives of Atlanta” cast member’s ex-fiance.
Ashley “A.J.” Jewell died at a hospital after a scuffle at the Body Tap club on Oct. 2. He was engaged to Kandi Burruss, a newer member of the Atlanta housewives cast, until August. He appeared in several episodes of the hit reality show, which follows metro Atlanta socialites.
In a statement from the office of Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard, authorities Monday announced the decision came after new medical experts concurred with an initial autopsy finding that Jewell died as a result of a sickle cell crisis.
