Candidates meet public at forum
Chiteka Jackson, Gabriel Sterling and Dennis Williams, the three candidates for the unexpired term of a vacant District 4 City Council seat in Tuesday’s election covered topics from adult entertainment to zoning in a forum on Thursday sponsored by a local media outlet at Sandy Springs City Hall.
Candidate Dennis Williams, executive vice president and CFO of Atlanta-DeKalb-based strip club operator Galardi South Enterprises, said he would not push to open more nightclubs in Sandy Springs.
“I’m not going to try to convince anyone to accept [adult entertainment],” he said.
Dennis Murphy, one of about 30 attendees, said 99 percent of District 4 residents are “militant” about zoning on Peachtree Dunwoody Road.
“There’s pressure to widen it, which will bring more traffic, high speeds and [gas stations],” he said. “We’re very militant. We’ll do what it takes. We want someone to stand up [to developers].”
