Atlanta Massage Parlors: Joe Kirby: Marietta controversy begs question of how yellow is too yellow?

I suppose that as an ardent lover of history and believer in preservation, I should be supportive of both these official actions. And I am, in terms of the changes made to the HBR. I don’t think a tattoo parlor is appropriate for the Square, any more than the old Moonlight Spa massage parlor on Powder Springs Street was a decade ago. And that’s even though a lot more people these days have tattoos than go to massage parlors. Tattoos may now be mainstream, but tattoo parlors still bring to mind a whole range of mental associations that conflict with what the city and much of its business community have been trying to create downtown. Sorry, and maybe I’m turning into a fuddy-duddy in my advancing years, but the Lucky Draw is a jarring contrast with the rest of downtown, just like the Moonlight Spa was and just like a strip joint would be.
