Suspect in carjacking discovered during sting
MARIETTA – A suspect in a June 10 Marietta carjacking was arrested in Florida during a prostitution sting, Marietta Police said.
Sly Deon Sampson, 34, is awaiting transfer to Marietta after his arrest in Hillsborough County, Fla., on a fugitive from justice warrant, according to police.
Investigators linked Sampson to the carjacking when the victim’s credit cards were used to post an advertisement on an adult escort service website, Marietta Police said.
Marietta detectives were familiar with the subject of the ad, 19-year-old Ahlai Woodward of Marietta, who was associated with Sampson.
After Marietta police found more online posts for Woodward in the Tampa, Fla., area, investigators coordinated a prostitution sting with Hillsborough police, resulting in the arrests of both Woodward and Sampson, according to police.
