Rooney’s £600k Coca-Cola deal at risk
Team Rooney may face the loss of one of his biggest sponsors.
US bosses at Coca-Cola’s headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia, were reported to be “horrified and bewildered” by his use of prostitutes.
They were angry when Rooney – who advertises Coca-Cola Powerade in a £600,000-a-year deal – was photographed in June smoking, urinating against a wall and singing after a night out at Manchester nightclub Panacea.
Executives at the London arm of the company are said to be fighting desperately to persuade reluctant American bosses to stay with him.Rooney earns £2.5million a year from four sponsors.
He also has deals with publisher HarperCollins, sports firm Nike and computer games maker EA Sports.
Nike, who kept their deals with golfer Tiger Woods after he became embroiled in sex scandals, insists it will stand by Rooney.
