Atlanta Escorts: Prostitution v Law

Posted on October 9th, 2009 in Atlanta escorts

It’s a banner year for the legal system and the hobby, it just won’t stay out of the news. And this time things are flipped around. This may either turn out to be groundbreaking news out of Canada, or just a flash in the pan. But at the end of a trial that started this Tuesday, we’ll find out.

It seems not everyone is content to keep prostitution secluded in dark corners and out of the way of “polite society.” A dominatrix operating out of Toronto, as well as two other prostitutes, are challenging Canada’s existing prostitution laws which prohibit communications for the purposes of prostitution and running a “common bawdy house.” Despite the fact it sounds hilarious, what it means is that a prostitute is not free to do what she does as a home business and you’re not allowed to go around advertising it.

The argument from these women is that, by now being able to operate from their own homes or communicate for their business purposes, the nature of the law, which doesn’t technically outright prohibit prostitution, is forcing them and all other escorts to work in the streets. Or, in other words, it is forcing them into unsafe working conditions.

The law’s take on this is going to be that prostitution is dangerous no matter where you do it, so loosening the restrictions would be a step in the wrong direction, but it could be a sticky legal issue (so to speak) that may rest on how crafty the women’s lawyer is. For their part, the women are arguing that by having the freedom to do what they do as anyone running a business would, in their own homes, they will be able to ensure their own safety, either by having security guards or devices to help minimize any threat they may face.
