MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) — Florida authorities say they arrested a suspect in the carjacking of a woman who was ordered by a gunman to get back in her car outside a Marietta store, but managed to escape with her young child.
Authorities say 34-year-old Sly Deon Sampson is awaiting transfer to Marietta after his arrest in Hillsborough County, Fla., on a fugitive from justice warrant.
Marietta police say investigators linked Sampson to the carjacking when the woman’s credit cards were used to post an advertisement on an adult escort service website.
Investigators said they coordinated a prostitution sting with Hillsborough police, resulting in the arrest. Sampson is charged with aggravated assault, robbery, false imprisonment and theft by taking of a motor vehicle.
It wasn’t known whether Sampson has an attorney in the case.
