Perdue names panel to select Ga. child advocate
Associated Press
Gov. Sonny Perdue has formed a nominating committee to select a new child advocate for Georgia.
Georgia’s current child advocate, Tom Rawlings, is leaving to lead the Guatemala office of a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit that fights child abuse and child trafficking for prostitution.
Rawlings had held the post since 2007.
Under state law, a nominating committee must recommend at least three candidates to serve as Georgia’s child welfare watchdog.
The committee will consist of Tommy Hills, the state’s chief financial officer; Mary Eleanor Wickersham, Perdue’s health and human services policy adviser and Josh Belinfante, the governor’s former legal counsel.
