Manford’s attorney attempts to establish timeline for another killer
MARTINSBURG, W.VA. The third day of the first-degree murder trail of Carl Eugene Manford began Thursday morning with a key prosecution witness sitting through more than two hours of cross-examination.
Attorney B. Craig Manford, who is not related to the man he represents, questioned Kathleen Tina Lebon, the defendants sometimes live-in girlfriend, about her admitted longtime cocaine and heroin habit, her prostitution and her stealing to get money to buy drugs. He also questioned her about her four children, ages 12, 9, 4 and 4 months.
Lebon, 28, testified that she has custody of her baby and that she is in a drug rehab program in Baltimore, where she said she is living. Lebon was pregnant June 28, 2008, the day James D. Tucker died. Police have said Tucker, 34, was beaten to death with a claw hammer in Carl Manfords trailer at 230 Kurtis Drive in Falling Waters, W.Va.
