If you’re a regular reader of the blog, you’ll likely have noticed not many super serious topics make it onto the page here. Every so often we’ll touch one some legal issues and the problems faced by the sex industry as a whole but by and large we avoid talking about the really depressing stories because frankly, this is supposed to be entertaining. We don’t want to bring anyone down.

Having said that, this story is both awful and yet amusing, only insofar as it at least has a happy ending. It could have turned out much worse, but since it didn’t, let’s make some jokes about it.

Apparently the club Flashdance in West Palm Beach Florida is so damn awesome some people will do just about anything to get in there. What does that mean? Let’s ask Omar Abdo, a dental surgeon who parked his car, locked the doors and left it running in the parking lot of the club with his 8 month old son still inside. No time for removing keys from the ignition or, you know, the baby, just time to run in and look at boobs.

If you’ll follow along for a second, the whole bizarre event is compounded by the fact that Abdo was still in his dental scrubs and it was just after midnight.

A police officer on foot patrol saw the still running car in the parking lot and stopped to check it out, at which time he heard a baby crying in the back. Backup was called and when they went into the club, they found daddy dearest with a stripper. His awesome excuse? He left the car running because the baby was asleep, and he was only in the club for a few minutes anyway. Security footage says he’d been in the club over an hour, which means he must have had a full tank of gas, too.

Unsurprisingly he was charged with a variety of crimes, but it makes you wonder if the club in question has anyone with the marketing savvy to turn this into a boon for business.
