Residents Complain About Abandoned Homes In Southwest Atlanta

ATLANTA — Lonnie Walker lives next door to three abandoned homes on Mary Street in southwest Atlanta.
“I demand that the city help me to do something,” said Walker.
Walker said the homes are more than just an eyesore.
“We’ve got a school right here and children walk up and down this street when they get out of school. Somebody could take a little child in there and rape them. I don’t want that to happen.” said Walker.
The homes are located directly across the street from Charles Gideons Elementary School, and according to residents, the homes have become a magnet for prostitutes, criminals and rodents.
