According to officials, five of the eight women have been identified and were all working prostitutes at the time of their murders.
The investigation sparked when four sets of remains were found in December during a massive search for Shannan Gilbert, 24, of Jersey City, NJ. They were all later identified as prostitutes advertising their services on Craigslist.
The four identified prostitutes include Megan Waterman, 22, of Maine; Maureen Brainard-Barnes, 25, of Norwich, CT; Melissa Barthelemy, 24, of Erie County, NY; and Amber Lynn Costello, 27, of North Babylon, NY.
