Federal prosecutors have charged eight people who were allegedly involved in a prostitution ring in three metro Atlanta counties.
Court records accuse the suspects in connection with an operation that involved at least a dozen prostitutes out of homes in Atlanta, Marietta, Norcross and Duluth.
One of the homes is in a Marietta neighborhood off Seminole Drive, about a mile from the Marietta Square.
“I wouldn’t expect it in this neighborhood because it’s more businesslike, but I guess that’s a business too,” resident Tommy Hill told AM750 & 95.5FM News/TalkWSB.
Authorities say three of the suspects — Jose Miguel Almonte, Luz M. Gutierrez and Maria Rodriguez Herrera — actively recruited women since November 2010. They say Almonte also transported women from Georgia to Florida and Alabama.
