Teenage shooting victim arrested for theft

The Newnan teenager injured in a drive-by shooting on George Coggin Road Sunday was released from the hospital Wednesday — and then promptly booked at the Coweta County Jail, charged in a separate crime, authorities say.
Jonathan Berggren, 19, is charged with felony theft by taking in an incident that “had nothing to do with the shooting,” according to Major James Yarbrough of the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office.
Berggren is charged with stealing $4,000 worth of jewelry on July 17 from a residence on Meadowview Glenn.
In the meantime, the investigation into Sunday’s shooting off Ga. Highway 154 in north Coweta continues, according to Yarbrough. Authorities now believe the shooting stemmed from an incident in which Berggren robbed two female escorts at gunpoint, he said.
