ATLANTA — A state representative said the city of Atlanta is dragging its feet when it comes to cleaning up neighborhoods filled with abandoned, burned out homes and trash.
State Rep. Ralph Long told Channel 2s Diana Davis more could be done to clean up blighted areas.
Long spoke to Davis at the intersection of Campbellton Road and Kenillworth Drive, which is littered with tires, trash and rats.
There are so many broken aspects of the city right now. Its a big problem and a growing problem, said Long.
On Camilla Street, just off Joseph E. Lowery, Long showed Davis a half-dozen burned out houses, with even more abandoned and boarded up.
Neighbors told Davis the homes are a haven for prostitution and drug deals. It disgusts me. Its disgusting, and its sad at the same time, said resident Ishala Smith.
