ATLANTA, Ga. –
A Georgia man has made his first appearance in federal court on charges related to a sex trafficking ring prosecutors say he operated out of the Atlanta area.
Prosecutors say 37-year-old Soloman Manasseh Mustafa of Stone Mountain and 24-year-old Kalandra Annette Wallace of Jonesboro used websites like Craigslist and Backpage to recruit young women to force them into prostitution. They were indicted by a grand jury last week.
Mustafa also faces charges of child pornography and attempting to have sex with a minor.
Mustafa was arraigned Wednesday. An initial court appearance has not been scheduled for Wallace.
Prosecutors say they physically assaulted the young women, prevented them from leaving and forced them to perform sex acts.
