DeKalb County commissioners snuffed out a proposal Tuesday that would have banned smoking in all public places in the county, including parks, bars and adult entertainment venues.
Commissioners rejected the ban by a 4 to 2 vote. Commissioner Jeff Rader was one of the few commissioners who supported the proposal. He believes the majority of the commission made a mistake.

Those voting against the ban sided with owners of those establishments who say the measure would have had a negative impact on their businesses.
