Mr. Demtrius Darnell Homer, 29, was arraigned today on federal charges of sex trafficking of three juveniles, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
“This defendant allegedly recruited very young girls and turned them into prostitutes, robbing them of their youth, their dignity, and their freedom,” United States Attorney Mrs. Sally Quillian Yates said. “Vigorously prosecuting those who exploit children and young women is a top priority for our office.”
From January through at least November 2009, Mr. Homer recruited, enticed, harbored, transported, provided, obtained and maintained three minors for prostitution, a press release from U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
All three are under 18 years old.
In the case of one victim, Mr. Homer is also charged with using force, fraud and coercion to cause her to engage in prostitution, according to the press release.
Perpetrators often prey on vulnerable woman and children, who are often forced into prostitution, according to a release from the U.S. Department of State reports.
