APD Raids Net 80 Arrests in Midtown

ATLANTA, Ga. – Atlanta police announced a huge bust over the weekend that netted dozens of arrests. They say the operation targeted both prostitution and narcotics suspects.
The arrests came without warning, and they happened in the middle of the night. Atlanta police moved in and cuffed nearly 100 suspects in what they call Operation Summer Heat. They say it’s just the beginning of a massive effort to crack down on crime.
Midtown residents have long complained to police of illicit activity of the worst kind: sex and drugs being peddled on the streets. Timing was everything for the weekend crackdown, as officers loaded one suspect after another into the paddy wagon.
